There are many benefits of having mirrors in your gym areas, there are even more benefits of having backlit or ‘halo’ mirrors too.
Not only do mirrors make an area look and feel larger they can also help to make the most of any natural light you have in a room therefore making a better workout space for you. There’s also the safety aspect so that you can see your position and posture whilst stretching and lifting.
Mirrors with lighting behind can create a modern effect, such as colour changing mood lights, lights to suit different exercise classes such as relaxing colours for a yoga class or meditation or simply just lights to match the gym corporate colours. The other added benefit is that sometimes gyms have no natural lighting in the building, so having this additional light behind the mirrors can make for a more enjoyable workout.
Using our Image 6 or Image 18 mirror system we manufacture a frame that creates a floating effect leaving a gap behind the mirrors to allow lighting to be run around the edge with no visible wires. Using either spot lights or LED strip lights, having this floating effect means that the light fixtures aren’t visible to the eye – therefore creating the ‘halo’ effect.
Here at Glass Installations we are experts in the installation of large scale gym mirrors. Most recently the GI team set to work on creating an installation to accommodate backlit mirrors, or more commonly know as halo lit mirrors.
Our current project is rather huge, comprising of an 11 meter run, 7 meter run and a third run of 6 meters of our Image 6 mirrors with a height of 2.4 meters. Due to the large scale of this installation and the work involved, the team set to work creating the three frames within our workshop. They measured, cut, assembled timber to create the large frames ready to take to site to install. We will then add a wooden face to these frames (once secured to the wall of course!) then we will carry out our installation of the mirrors on to this frame.
As the saying goes ‘no job to big, no job too small!’ which is rather appropriate this project.
