Chobham Academy was one of three contracts Glass Installations was awarded to work on for the London 2012 Olympic Games.  We installed within the Athlete’s training camp and in other parts of the Academy for the future use of the building.  Chobham Academy was one of many structures purpose built for the Olympics but will provide education and facilities for the Stratford and Leyton communities.

The Academy will open in September 2013 and provide education for children from 3 to 18 years.  Chobham Academy illustrates the versatility of Glass Installations’ products.  The Image “18” High Impact mirror system conforms to British Standards BS6206 Class A and EN 12600 the highest class of safety backing for professional gym use and educational establishments.  Image “18 Mirrors were installed in Chobham with aluminium surrounds which blended well with their modern design of the building.  It was designed in a drum form, an open, sustainable design and interior.  We also fitted the high quality Image “18” into seven new music practice rooms.  The academy will be a specialist school I literature, performing arts and music.

Whilst Chobham was designed as an all ages school, as mentioned its gym was used in the summer 2012 by Olympic Althletes from around the world.  We fitted one bank of Image “18” mirrors with an integrally fitted single tier 50mm dia polished beech ballet barre.  Our ballet barres are available in a number of finishes, Chobham Academy had an oak finish single barre.
