Refurbishment to Dance studios – Mirrors

The Birmingham Royal Ballet has had its home in the Midlands since the 1990s, but has not had any refurbishment of its facilities in almost 23 years.  It is now about to undergo major building improvement works.  The total cost of refurbishment will be £2.7m.  The Ballet company was successfully awarded £1.85m by The Arts Council and the rest of the funds will be acquired through donations and supporters.  The Birmingham Royal Ballet has one of the biggest and most diverse repertoires of any ballet company.  Over 200 active ballets tour Nationally and Internationally with 90% of their performances outside of Central London, the ballet company needed to extend and modernize their facilities to keep up with the delivery of these performances as well as enabling them to extend their outreach work and other activities for the public.

They will be refurbishing the ballet headquarters to world class studio facilities and have chosen Glass Installations’ Image Mirror system as it is a leader in safety mirror design, bespoke manufacturing and outstanding installation and finish.  The Birmingham Royal Ballet had realised how much of an impact and difference choosing mirror specialists can make when they found thankfully early on that the  company originally instructed to install mirrors would fall short in Health and Safety standards and procedures.

Health and Safety Mirror requirements

Overbury, the contracted builders were concerned about safely removing the existing mirrors.  There is a safety procedure to follow when removing dance studio mirrors, it is easier for our team when the existing mirrors are our own safety mirrors as the majority of glass is kept safely attached to the safety backing material applied to the back.  At Glass Installations our safety mirrors are of the highest quality, for all the specifications, please click on the Specifications on each Product Page.

We will be installing our highest specification at the Ballet Company – the Image “18” High Impact safety mirrors.  All our team are also fully trained specialist mirror installers, trained in  Health and Safety awareness and application and have years of experience.  Our work is always of the highest quality.

For any further information on the Birmingham Royal Ballet please see their website and do not hesitate to contact Glass Installations on 01782 317620 if you have questions regarding safety mirrors, dance studio mirrors and health and safety.

We look forward to completing these exciting improvements for the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
