Once again Glass Installations have been approached to manufacture our Featherweight Foil mirrors for the film industry. Our manufacturing team are currently in the process of constructing Featherweight Foil glassless mirrors for the new film Patient Zero, which is set to be released later this year. Patient Zero will be directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, staring Matt Smith and Natalie Dormer. Film set construction company, Set The Scene Ltd, asked us to manufacture and supply a number of foil glassless mirrors to be used in the filming process.
Featherweight Foil Mirrors For Film Set Production
Our Featherweight Foil mirrors are frequently used for film, television and stage scenery construction. These glassless mirrors are extremely popular for the film industry as their lightweight construction make large mirror panels panels (these are 6m by 2m) easy to handle and transport. Manufactured from state of the art, (23 microns) thick polyester film, metallised with 99.9% pure Aluminium which is then stretched over purpose made Aluminium frame and heat treated, our foil mirrors give a brighter, sharper reflection and their clarity is equal to glass mirrors.
The weight of glass mirrors often limits the size of one piece mirror installations, our Featherweight mirrors can be manufactured to bespoke sizes to suit many different specifications, where glass mirrors cannot be used due to weight restrictions or health and safety guidelines. Another benefit of the reduced weight of the foil mirror is that they are easy to mount and the usual substantial sub-structure required for large areas of glass mirror is not required, we have carried out installations where the mirror is held in place by magnets with a secondary safety chain, removing the need for deep anchors in solid structures.
