The New Theatre Royal Portsmouth is one of our most recently completed mirror installations.  Glass Installations were approached by building contractors ISG Construction, to manufacture and install our specialist mirror system as part of the £16m redevelopment of Portsmouth’s oldest theatre.  The project is a joint venture between the theatre and the University of Portsmouth.

New Theatre Royal Redevelopment

The Grade II listed building has undergone a major redevelopment and extension, seeing the reinstatement of a 4 storey fly tower at the rear of the theatre, over 40 years after the stage house was destroyed by fire.  An extension will also include facilities for a double-height studio theatre and television studio, each with its own control room, music practice rooms, dance studios and offices.   The new facilities will support the theatre’s ambitions to create its own productions and become an important creative space for film, television and drama students from the university.

Specialist Mirror Installation

Our Image “18” Mirror system has been fitted into the dance studios and practice rooms. This high quality, top of the range, bespoke specialist mirror system complements the state of the art finish of the new theatre.  Fitted using our unique mechanical fixing system, resulting in a sleek, modern style without any unsightly screw fixings.  Also installed were a number of safety backed vanity mirrors into various changing & dressing rooms and WCs.
