Glass Installations produce more than just gymnasium, dance studio and training mirrors. Many projects require unique display mirrors such as exhibition mirrors, overhead demonstration mirrors and ceiling mirrors.
Have you ever thought about the amount of different mirrors you are surrounded by daily? From getting up in the morning, using the bathroom mirror, getting dressed and looking in a wardrobe or hanging mirror. Obviously driving you’ll use mirrors in the car and on the road and then perhaps going to the gym first thing and using gym mirrors for training purposes. Not all mirrors area always purely for reflective purposes for use in the home, gym or on roads for safety, in shops for image reflections. We have been specialising in high impact safety mirrors for dance studios and gyms since our beginnings.
Over time Glass Installations’ products have developed and our technicians have developed all our mirror product’s versatility. We are always excited to receive design projects that require the use of mirrors in unusual ways or bespoke mirror ideas. We wanted to share with you some of the unique ways in which mirror can be used and specifically focus on projects we have been involved in. Below we have showcased the three main areas exhibition mirrors, display mirrors and ceiling mirrors.
Exhibition Mirrors
We use standard glass mirrors for interior design mirrors and some display mirrors. This can be either our Image “6” or Image “18” Mirror, but sometimes just 4mm or 6mm silvered mirrors. Most of our display mirrors however, including some interior designs and ceiling mirrors are made from our versatile Featherweight Foil Mirrors. The reason for this is we can transport and handle with ease, but most importantly we can build larger pieces of mirror that for unique displays can be more suited.
Exibition mirrors can be used in a variety of ways. The project above for the Liverpool Biennial Art Exhibition, was used to reflect the art installation of a crowd painting on the floor. Made up of our Featherweight Foil Mirrors in 2m squared pieces, the ceiling mirrors were installed in a fixed position.
These exhibition mirrors were used for artistic purposes, but quite often exhibition mirrors have a practical element to them. Exhibition mirrors can be used to show 360 degree angle of a large product during an event or show. They can also be used to demonstrate much smaller items or demonstration, such as cookery demonstrations. The mirrors for exhibitions can sometimes be made up using static mirrors fixed into position and sometimes they may be portable, depending on your requirements. We would also advise at the time of enquiry whether your design would better suit standard glass mirrors or featherweight foil mirrors, or indeed any other type of safety mirror.
Unique Display Mirrors
Unique display mirrors can be manufactured for various purposes. The project above for a catwalk Fashion show used a very unique desgin given to us which we then created again using our Featherweight Foil Mirrors. The angled zig-zag collection of mirrors were created mainly for a unique look as display mirrors, not necessarily for reflection purposes alone unlike some other display mirrors. This photo is of the installation process, the mirrors were put in a long line either side of he catwalk and the audience sat in front of them. These mirrors were able to also be dismantled by our team following the event, for many smaller installations if you have a suitable place to store Featherweight Mirrors to prevent damaged your display mirrors can be used again, even if not a traditional portable variety.
These display mirrors consisted of over 90 featherweight mirrors over 5m tall! We provide the catwalk and display mirrors to some of the world’s top designers and design teams across the UK.
Ceiling Mirrors
Ceiling mirrors are not as popular as you might think! When they are used as interior design mirrors the results can be quite dramatic and looking very unique. The project above for No. One Hyde Park exclusive residence in London, again used our Featherweight Foil Mirrors in a very bespoke design above the living and dining area in this open plan living space. The designer Candy & Candy often uses a lot of reflective surfaces, so our mirrors were a natural choice for the brief. This design also shows how our Featherweight Foil mirrors are perfect for creating bespoke projects as this mirror had a very unique curved design.
We really have no limitation on what we believe we can achieve when creating either overhead demonstration mirrors, display mirrors or any kind of exhibitions mirrors.
